Why Another Flashcard App?

Hi, I’m Ilia — an indie developer passionate about language learning 👋

For the past four years, I’ve used Memrise to learn foreign languages like French 🇫🇷, German 🇩🇪, and Italian 🇮🇹 (my Memrise profile). However, Memrise announced that it will stop supporting user-created dictionaries in the near future. In response, I decided to create my own app called Flip, focused on learning - without the distractions of gamification or gimmicks.

Pay Only For Result

Flip is a results-based paid app. You’re not paying for your time or the app itself – only for the cards you master. If Flip doesn’t help you memorize a card, you don’t pay.

How does it works?

At the start, Flip gives you 100 Premium cards for FREE. When a card reaches Level 5 (after a 12-day successful repetition period), it begins to count toward your Premium balance. Once your balance runs out, you’ll need to top up to keep learning.

Once purchased, Premium cards never expire – your total balance only grows.

How many words do I need for daily conversations?

In general, knowledge of the most frequent 3,000 words in a language is sufficient to understand 85–90% of daily conversations, media, and written texts.
